Introducing the first GPS solar chronograph in the Prospex collection—the most advanced next-generation chronograph in Seiko's history. With a legacy of many world-first achievements in chronograph design, the GPS Solar Speedtimer leverages the latest developments in watchmaking to advance the Speedtimer legacy.
Inspired by the famous monochrome "Panda" chronograph design of 1972, this watch features the same chronograph style as the original, as well as the iconic yellow accents that symbolize Seiko's history of timekeeping excellence—especially in the track and field arena. Since 1985, Seiko has been the Official Timekeeper of major World Athletics Championships, providing timing and measurement services for more than 190 World Athletics Championships worldwide.
Beneath a double-curved sapphire crystal is a dual-time display, high-speed time zone adjustment, and a time transfer function. Around the perimeter of the black dial, this GPS solar watch enhances its chronograph functionality with the addition of a chronograph scale on the inner frame. The legibility of the stopwatch function is enhanced by the design of the UTC time zone markers on the side of the bezel.
The watch is powered by the in-house 5X83 Solar GPS caliber, with the ability to measure elapsed time through its chronograph function, which can measure elapsed time to 1/20 of a second. It is accurate to ±15 seconds per month, while it has a power reserve of 6 months on a full charge, and for convenience, can be charged from any light source—either natural sunlight or artificial light.
Prospex is a combination of the words "professional" and "specifications." Seiko Prospex timepieces are designed to be practical, reliable, and durable; to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
